Divide and Conquer Part Two

While Mason and I were in St. George, Eric and Braden were
in Arizona.  They played 3 baseball games (didn't win any) and went to
an Angels game and 2 White Socks games.  Brade was
hoping to see A.J. Pierzynski, who is his favorite player but didn't get to.
They went to the Dream Fields and had fun hanging out
with the others on the team.
Go Preds!!

Divide and Conquer Part One

As luck would have it, Braden and Mason ended up
playing in 2 different baseball tournaments
the exact same weekend in 2 different states.
So... Mason and I headed to St. George
and Braden and Eric went to Arizona.
This is the first time we have to split up
and it was a little hard for both of us (mostly me) knowing
we were missing one of the boys games.
(I actually considered driving from St. George to Arizona
after Mason's games were over.)
Mason's team won one game out of four.
Hoping the regular season will go better than this tournament.
We had lots of mother-son bonding and had tons of fun
at the games as well as meeting the other families
on the team and hanging out and spending time with our new friends.
The 80 degree weather was also a bonus!!
Now back to reality!!  And snow!!

Wishing For The Warm Summer

I've decided that I am tired of the snow and cold so I am
going to make my own warm sunny day.
I am going to get a large very bright spot light and
strategically place it so it is shining on the boat-thus the sun.
I am also going to place some space heaters around
the boat-thus the warmth of the sun.
Throw a little sand in the boat.
(maybe not the sand thing, Eric hates sand in the boat)
Play some beachy-oceany music.
Grab a couple Diet Dr. Peppers and my sun glasses
and go sit out in the boat for a few hours!!
Do I need sunscreen?

Maybe not the perfect solution but it sounds better than
sitting around cozied up in a blanket by the fire!

Come join me if you want!!!!!!

Bomb de Bomb Bomb Bomb

So as I take Kalen to school this morning there are a ton of kids standing
around outside and there are several police cars around the school.
Kalen's friend thinks it is an early morning fire drill.
If the police cars were not there I would have believed that.
As I drop him off the police are blocking off the parking
lot so I asked the Police Officer what was going on and he told me he
really couldn't tell me any more than that the  school was in lockdown
and they were making sure it was safe.
So come to find out there had been a bomb threat
and I had just dropped Kalen off at school.
As I watch the news they say there had been a bomb
threat and the police had checked out the school
and they are also bringing in the bomb sniffing dogs.
It wasn't until 10:30 that they determine it is safe and
allow the kids back to school.
There had also been a threat yesterday after school had ended
and the police and dogs had also been there.
They have arrested a 16 year old boy who had made the
threats from his own cell phone (not so smart)
and was sitting in a park across
the street watching all the confusion and chaos.
Clearly this boy needs lots of help
and will be in a boatload of trouble for a long time.
Good thing everything ended up safe and sound!

The Christmas Vacation that never ends

As today comes to an end it is day 24
of Braden and Mason being off track
with 11 more days to go
which makes a total of 35 days
of them being home.
And Kalen is home Monday and Tuesday.
(hopefully he will go snowboarding and
be out of my hair because all three of
them home is just asking for bugging and teasing
which will lead to fighting and crying!!)
Nothing like being cooped in the house
for a month since it is cold and snowy outside.
I know, I know summer vacation is
three times as long.
But it is warm and nice and you can go outside
and do a lot more than you can in the winter.

Poor me!!!!

If I had a picture of me pulling out
my hair it would have been a perfect touch!!!!!!!!

Clean??

In trying to teach the kids to clean up after themselves
I called Mason back in to clean up the pan
he had used to make Mac n Cheese.
He did a total half way job and set the pan back on the counter.
When I explained to him that it wasn't totally clean and
that he needed to clean it again and also dry it and
hang it up.  He told me that the rest of the
stuff in it was from the Cream of Wheat that I had made this morning.
His response caught me of guard and totally made me laugh.
For one I had used a completely different pan and
had cleaned it and hung it up hours ago.
For two why would he use a pan that was already dirty
to cook his lunch in?
And for three does he think that you just clean out your part of
the food in the pan and then someone else will come and clean out their part?
Or do you just do a good job and clean out the entire pan in one shot
and be done with the whole thing?
Who else would come up with and answer like that besides Mason??
Im wondering if I start doing the laundry and dishes and cleaning and
all the other things I do in a day with a half way attitude if someone else
will come behind me and do it the right way.  I guess if I had a cleaning
lady she could take care of all those small details.
So until then we will all learn to clean up after ourselves so I
don't have a melt down-freak out!!!!

I love you Mason!!!!

p.s. Cute Chico in the background!!

Remembering Scott

We miss you coming to our games.
We miss your latest and greatest electronics.
We miss your car being parked in the driveway and you sitting on the front
porch waiting for us to come home.
We miss you coming and watching the BYU - UTAH games.
We miss the sunflower seeds and beef jerky you always had.
We miss the treats you always brought over.
We miss your positive attitude even when things were the toughest.
We miss going to 'The Kelly Clarkson'.
We miss you staying with us and wondering if you
would stay for a few days or if it would be a few months.
We miss having you and your boys over for dinner.
We miss the funny stories you would tell us.
We miss wrestling with you and accidentally cracking your rib.
We miss you taking us to movies.
We miss you taking us to Evanston to get fireworks and then
lighting them off in front of the house and the neighbors getting mad.
We miss you and love you Scott and think of you always.

Christmas Lights

Nothing better that nice clear simple lights.
(This isn't the greatest picture either.)

Watch out Clark Griswold!
(You have got to enlarge this picture to get the full effect.)

There is some pretty tough competition out there!

Kalen's friend took us past this house the other night.
It's too bad you can't see the Carousel and the Merry Go Round and
the Teeter Totter with elves and Mr. and Mrs Clause riding on them.
There was also Christmas music playing
not so softly in the background.
Did I mention the huge snowman on the side of
the driveway and the lines of lights on the roof?

What do the neighbors say?
Do the neighbors like the bright flashy lights and loud
Christmas music?
Do they feel like they are in Las Vegas?
Do they like the extra traffic that has been driving
up and down their street for the last month?
Is it soothing to fall asleep to?
or
Do they want to unplug all the lights and tip over the
Merry Go Round when the neighbors are sleeping?

I guess I have quite a few hang ups about Christmas lights.
The worst are the icicle lights.  They are always tangled up and
never hang right.
The multi-colored have never been a favorite.
And all the lawn ornaments are soo not a favorite.
Lights that are stapled to the fence...not a good idea.
Plastic Santa in a sled on top of the roof...really not a good idea.
The only thing that could make any of these worse is to add
blinking lights to any of them!  I HATE blinking lights!!!!
They give me a headache!

Lights should be clear and very simple.
( You could alternate clear with red or green.)
  Straight and not saggy.
And definitely not blinking!

It is pretty funny to see all the crazy lights and decorations
that go up at Christmas.  Some people go just a little bit
overboard.
